Postdoctoral Researcher – IVI-RMA Foundation
Within the IVI Foundation, the Genomic and Systems Reproductive Medicine group led by Dr. Patricia Díaz Gimeno is looking for a candidate to fill a postdoctoral researcher position. Dr. Diaz Gimeno and her team are specialized in massive data analysis through the combined application of genomics and clinical approaches. She leads a multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians, biologists, biotechnologists and biomedical scientists who combine dry and wet lab experiments. Currently the group consists of a postdoctoral researcher in bioinformatics, 6 predoctoral students (2 M.Sc in bioinformatics, 2 M.Sc in reproductive biotechnology, 2 M.Sc in Genetics/Genomics), computer and mathematical bioinformatic technicians for support in the dry lab, as well as technical support personnel in the wet lab. IVI Foundation has a general laboratory for experiments with nucleic acids and classical molecular techniques, as well as a cell culture room. Moreover, we have our own bioinformatics laboratory, as well as the infrastructures of the IIS La Fe. The research lines of Dr. Diaz-Gimeno’s group are focused on modeling molecular complexity from a systems biology perspective through various artificial intelligence methods to understand the molecular basis of human infertility, generate new taxonomies and prioritize potential therapeutic targets using systems pharmacology models. This knowledge has allowed them to design new diagnostic tools and propose personalized treatments to achieve precision in assisted reproduction treatments.
The selected candidate will mainly join the ENDOAGE project, whose objective is to evaluate whether endometrial molecular age can be used as a prognostic biomarker of reproductive success in assisted reproduction treatments. The candidate will also participate in several clinical translation projects of the department related to endometrial diagnosis through novel genomic tools, as well as co-directing PhD. Student’s theses and collaborating in the group’s training sessions.
We are looking for a highly motivated professional who wants to develop personally and professionally his/her research career within a multidisciplinary team and leader in its field. We offer a salary of between 25 and 28,000 EUR per year (gross wage) depending on the candidate’s profile and with the intention of getting a postdoctoral contract through competitive calls. The candidate’s duties will include supervision of predoctoral student experiments, coordination of patient recruitment with the participating clinics, and pre-processing and management of biological samples. Experiments to be performed will include DNA and RNA extraction and classical molecular (i.e. PCR, cell culture) and/or sequencing/methylation experiments, bioinformatic analysis of epigenomic and transcriptomic data, as well as representation and communication of results in the form of scientific articles and communications at prestigious international conferences.
